Known internationally as the French Riviera, the Côte d'Azur is a coastal territory of southeastern France in Provence spread over three departments: the Alpes-Maritimes, the Var and the Bouches-du-Rhône. It stretches from Marseille and the Calanques National Park to the west to Menton in the east, near the Italian border. The portion of Liguria between San Remo and Genoa is sometimes considered to belong to the French Riviera. This Mediterranean coast is distinguished above all by its beautiful beaches, its excellent climate, its good sunshine, its famous seaside resorts and its infrastructure. Take out your map of the French Riviera and you will understand why your stay in the Mediterranean will be unique in one of the campsites of South East Holidays. From Hyères and the Moorish plain to Monaco and the ledge of Roquebrune, from the Gulf of Saint-Tropez to the charming port of Menton, this territory is dotted with remarkable sites and towns. The Côte d'Azur is also well served by the motorway network. It is about 8 hours from Paris (870 km), 4 hours from Lyon (416 km) and 5 hours from Toulouse (500 km).

The quality of the road infrastructure makes the car a fast and efficient means of transport to get around the Côte d'Azur. You will always have the option to choose between the motorway and the ledge overlooking the Mediterranean, highly recommended if you have enough time to enjoy both the journey and the destination. However, traffic is very heavy in high season, parking spaces are highly coveted and paid for. Choose the train in the summer if possible, especially on Nice-Cannes journeys that you will make in less than 30 minutes by train (34 km), far, far away from the more than 2 hours sometimes recorded in the summer. For short distances, ride your bike and pedal your hair in the wind. Our south-east camping teams will tell you where to rent your bike (rental is sometimes possible within the campsite), safe bike paths and trails you can take.
