What to do in and around Saint-Auban?

Saint-Auban is a charming village built on the mountainside, at the foot of the rock of Tracastel. Among the must-sees of Saint-Auban, do not miss the eco-museum and the village church, which dates from the 16th century. From there, you can easily explore the surroundings, such as the Clue de Saint-Auban and the remains of the Porte de Tracastel.
Less than a kilometer from the campsite, visit the lakes of Saint Auban, you can go to this eco-tourist park and fish for trout, enjoy the adjoining restaurant with cuisine based on local products, including lake trout, or still visit the source.
About twenty kilometers from the lakes of Esparron and Castellane, our campsite La Pinatelle will allow you to enjoy the riches and activities of the Verdon: pedal boats, paddleboards or kayaks and rafting in the lakes or the Gorges du Verdon.
An excursion to the Gorges du Loup (30km), you will discover natural riches, waterfalls, bridges and pretty wild river beaches, you can visit a traditional confectionery there. You will take the opportunity to visit Gréolière or Coursegoules, some hikes offer a panorama where you can see the sea from the hinterland of Grasse.
Saint-Auban is located less than an hour from Entrevaux and its superb citadel, the beautiful town of Grasse and the impressive Gorges du Verdon, which offer some of the most beautiful scenery in France.
From Puget-Théniers to Annot runs the famous Train des Pignes. Boarding this old steam train put into service at the beginning of the 20th century, you will travel 20 km of magnificent landscapes.

During your stay, a visit to the Gorges du Verdon, the highest gorges in Europe, is a must. This natural wonder will seduce you with its breathtaking panoramas and the inimitable color of the Verdon river. ... by road, discover the right and left banks, passing through the villages of La Palud sur Verdon and Aiguines and the Route des Crêtes circuit ... on a hike, explore the canyon via the Blanc-Martel trail (14 kilometers / 5:30 am / 6:00 am) or the Imbut trail (13 km / 5:00 am / 5:30 am) or overlook it thanks to the Grand Margès trail (10 km / 4h30 / 5h00) ... on the water, rafting, water hikes ... many whitewater sports will take you to the heart of the Verdon

The Sainte-Croix lake and its turquoise water are one of the essential corners of the Verdon. The third largest lake in France, it covers more than 2,200 hectares. Several activities are concentrated there for beach lovers, families or even aspiring sportsmen. Without artifice, heavenly and rejuvenating, you will undoubtedly be there like a fish in water. To take full advantage of it, you can:

A gigantic 700-meter deep gorge carved by water and time in the limestone of the platforms of the Provence. The Gorges du Verdon are one of the main tourist sites in the Var, France and even Europe. This unique and spectacular natural wonder can be discovered from the heights by following the ledge road that offers sublime and breathtaking views. Or follow the bed of the river and canoe down the aquamarine waters of these magnificent Gorges in the Verdon.

Moustiers Sainte Marie

Provencal capital of faience, this village of character is part of the Verdon Regional Natural Park. Today many master potters offer quality pieces with original decorations. You will also find beautiful stalls offering some local products such as honey, lavender and olive oil. For the bravest, a beautiful stone staircase from the center of the village to reach the sanctuary of Notre Dame de Beauvoir, a classified historic monument with a magnificent view over the valley.

Aiguines and his castle

Aiguines is a renowned tourist destination for its authenticity and its panorama of the lake of Ste Croix. However, woodturning remains the major attraction with the manufacture of "studded balls" that you can discover in a museum dedicated to it in the village center. Additional visits include the chapel of St Pierre and its orientation table, the place of the Fountain and its belfry, as well as St Jean parish church sheltering a christ in cross classified as a historical monument.

Gréolières

Walks & Discovery

Located at the foot of Chiron, Gréolières watches over the Loup Valley at an altitude of 800 meters, like a jewel in the grandiose setting of the Pre-Alps. A medieval village with its two castels still visible, with its narrow streets and typical houses of the Mountains of Provence, its shaded terraces and its craftsmen. Gréolières is the starting point for wonderful excursions.

The infamous landscapes of Gorges de Verdon will be sure to delight lovers of nature and open spaces. Several Tikayan campsites are located in the heart of Verdon and near the gorges.

A tourist hotspot in the High Alps, the gorges are recognized as the largest canyon in Europe. It is full of provencal villages, the main one being Moustiers Ste Marie (a famous provencal village specializing in earthenware and pottery), lakes (the largest being Sainte Croix where you’ll find the entrances to the gorges), hiking trails and unusual landscapes.

Villages et cités de caractère

A dozen villages located around the Valensole plateau have been awarded and praised for their architectural heritage, their environment and the many crafts they have to offer.

Riez is located on the side of the hill Saint Maxime overlooking the confluence of the 3 valleys. It provides a medieval atmosphere mixed with architectural curiosites and provencal craftsmanship (art, pottery and earthenware).

Dauphin is one of the most beautiful villages for it’s limestone architecture. Panoramic views stretch as far as the eye can see and many local producers and craftmen offer their many quality products (pottery, ceramics, ironwork, etc.).

Mane and it’s feudal citadel is lined with remains of aquaducts and necropolises. The « pointed cabins » in dry stone are this village’s curiosity.

Lurs is perched above the Durance and surrounded by one of the five most beautiful olive groves in Provence. A hiking itinerary from this village is a perfect example of history and heritage and is also part of the famous « Saint Jacques de Compostelle » way.

Lac d'Esparron

The 328-hectare Lac d'Esparron is an ideal leisure base to enjoy with family or friends with its creeks and vertiginous cliffs. Ideal for cooling off in summer, you can swim safely at the village beach thanks to the lifeguards.

To explore the lake, take the canal guard trail. This hike allows you to admire the magnificent landscapes offered by the lake. You can also rent an electric boat, a pedal boat or a kayak. Embark on the "Pearl of the Verdon", this large electric boat offers cruises to better understand the secrets of Lake Esparron-de-Verdon.

The village of Esparron de Verdon, perched on the cliff, has a magnificent view of the lake and its turquoise waters. You can visit the Château d'Esparron, classified as a historical monument.

Vannades Lake

The Vannades lake is a haven of peace and freshness ideal for the practice of sports and leisure activities. Managed by the City of Manosque, it offers supervised swimming (in summer) with picnic areas, a fast food area, mini golf and all the equipment for supervised sailing and rowing. .
